In 2001 August, SMF was chosen as the model hospital for “Initiating the Best Practices in the field of Bio-Medical Waste Management”, after a survey of 40 hospitals, 3 Laboratories and 2 Blood Banks in Chennai. The Survey was conducted by 2 non – governmental, non-profit organizations “SRISTHI” and “CAG”.
Mohan Foundation (Multi Organ Harvesting Network) honoured Sundaram Medical Foundation for being part of the Initiative for Organ Sharing (INOS) along with Apollo Hospital, Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Christian Medical College, Vellore. The INOS group has been functioning for several years and they harvest and share the solid organs among the institutions to help needy patients with organ failure. It is a unique model in India and one of the largest organ sharing networks in the country.
SMF has been awarded the 2nd Lifeline Foundation – AAEMI [ American Association for Emergency Medicine in India] Annual National Awards for M/EMS in the institutional category, on the 18th of November 2011. This is a prestigious award that has been instituted jointly by the Lifeline Foundation, Ahmedabad and the AAEMI. SMF has been acknowledged as the first institution in the private sector in India to have set up an organised, modern Emergency Department.
Long Island Jewish Medical Centre – New York rated SMF's program on Emergency First Aid Training as the “Best High Impact Community Program” and the paper presented by Dr.M.Swamikannu at the EMCON 2003 at Mumbai was adjudged as best for academics excellence and community commitment.
- A Special Award to SMF in recognition of “5S” process implementation in Service Sector Industry.
- The Association of Technicians trained in Japan viz. ABK-AOTS, evaluated the “5S” practices implementation at SMF and a Special Award for implementing 5S practices in Service Sector was presented.
- The award was presented by Mr.Masayuki, Tsuchikawa, Consul, Consulate General of Japan on 31st July 2004. SMF was also given the honour of presenting its implementation in the “Best 5 S practices” seminar.
- The theme of FORUM 2022 was "Recent Advances in Clinical Practice" and the program was held on April 23-24, 2022 (conference & workshop). The scientific program had distinguished speakers talking on various topics, with recent advances in clinical practice as the focus
- Dr Regi George and Dr Lalitha Regi,Joint Founders of "Tribal Health Initiative" Sittlingi Valley, received the Community Service Award for 2022
- Dr Sateesh had been elected as Executive Committee member South for the Society for Pediatric Urology-Indian Association of Pediatric surgeons for 2020-22
- Ms Arthi G Trainee Dietitian was a All India Topper in Registered Dietitian (RD) exam held on February 2021 and cleared the exam on the 1st attempt
- For the academic year of 2016 to 2019, Dr Krishna R. received a gold medal for passing the DNB postgraduate examination in otorhinolaryngology
- The prestigious fellowship FAPSR was given to Dr Somu Sivabalan by the Asian Pacific Society of Respirology (APSR)
