The SMF Emergency Department (ED) delivers comprehensive, round-the-clock emergency care for medical, surgical, trauma, and neurological emergencies. As one of the first hospitals in the country to establish a dedicated 24×7 Emergency Department, SMF has been at the forefront of emergency medicine, managing high-acuity cases with speed, precision, and compassion. The ED provides acute care for road traffic accidents, burns, poisonings, acute medical and surgical emergencies, and advanced time-sensitive interventions such as thrombolysis for heart attack and stroke.

Department Overview


  • 15-bed fully equipped Emergency Department 
  • One of the earliest hospitals in India to recognise the need for a dedicated 24×7 ED 
  • Approximately 30,000 emergency patients managed annually 
  • Nearly 30% of total hospital admissions routed through the ED 
  • Emergency services available at both the main hospital and WAVIN OP Building 
  • Supported by two well-equipped ambulances with trained paramedics

  • Emergency neurological and cardiac interventions 
  • Point-of-care diagnostics including ABG, ECG, ECHO, Ultrasound, and cardiac enzyme testing
