Department of Acute Care, General, and Laparoscopic Surgery Our team consists of four senior consultants and residents providing evidence-based, contemporary, empathetic surgical treatment to adult patients with surgical problems.

Milestones
    • The department was started in 1994 by Dr. Arjun Rajagopalan when SMF was established. Under his leadership and guidance, it has grown into a department providing quality surgical care to patients.
    • Laparoscopic surgeries were introduced in 1996 to provide minimal access surgery
    • Training of residents in surgery under NBE and CRRIs was started in 2000
    • HD Laparoscopic equipment was installed in 2007
    • A separate short stay surgical centre was established in 2009

  • Outpatient clinic, Diagnostic services, and Day surgeries
    Our outpatient clinic located at our OPD center is accessible during the day for patients to seek consultation with our experts for their surgical problems. Patients are evaluated by our consultants, and a comprehensive treatment plan is charted out with the help of diagnostic services also housed in the same facility. Minor procedures which do not require an overnight stay are carried out here for the benefit of patients
  • Acute care, Inpatients, and Surgeries
    Surgeries requiring hospitalisation and emergency care are provided at our main hospital in Anna Nagar, which is accessible to patients round the clock. The hospital has a fully staffed and equipped Emergency Room, Intensive Care Unit, and Operating Rooms to provide comprehensive and safe surgical treatment to all patients.
