Anaesthesiology

The Department of Anaesthesiology has been functioning since the inception of SMF. We provide anaesthesia care for more than 3,000 patients every year. The department started with two consultants and presently functions with four senior consultants and two junior consultants, providing round-the-clock anaesthesia care.
Milestones
- Adaptablity : We have adapted our anaesthetic management to recent and new surgeries
- We provided anesthesia care during the recent pandemic situation and coped during oxygen scarcity
- Safety : Safety has been our gold standard in anaesthesia
- Documentation : We maintain a detailed data sheet of all the patients which enables us to retrieve patient particulars during an emergency
Treatment
Pre-Anaesthesia Assessment
Pre-anaesthetic clinic is run twice a day (morning and evening) in the OPD, to improve outcome by identifying potential anaesthetic difficulties, existing medical conditions and quantifying risk planning of perioperative care opportunity for explanation, discussion and allaying fear and anxiety. Chronic pain management on prior appointment.
